I have been reading alot about changin WinXP product key but have had
problems with OEM machines. The best way to do it is as followed.
Make a search in Windows/System32 folder for WPA. You should come up
with a few files. Now you want to cut/paste the next two files to a new
folder:
- wpa.dbl
- wpabaln.exe
Once these files have been removed from the system32 folder you want to
activate your copy by doing the following. Click on Start then Run and
enter the following line:
%systemroot%system32oobemsoobe.exe /a
Then click on Activate by phone and hit the Change Product Key. You
should now be able to change an OEM Product Key to another one.

In Windows 10 and Windows 8, enter the product key into the Enter a product key window. In Windows 7 and Windows Vista, the key should be entered into a screen called Windows Activation. If you're using Windows 10 or Windows 8, the key will be submitted once all the characters have been entered. If that still doesn't work, which is not uncommon, you should try changing the Windows XP product key with Winkeyfinder, a popular free product key finder program that can also change the XP product key. We like this manual process better since there's nothing to download but if it doesn't work for you, give Winkeyfinder a try. The Product Key Update tool is not needed for Windows later then XP. Both Vista and Windows 7 allow the user to change product key from within the OS. 1) Click the Start button 2) Right-click Computer 3) Select Properties 4) Scroll down window and click 'Change Product Key' However, I do recommend installing non-pirated software. Hello

i have managed to recover my windows XP MCE machine via reinstalling windows via an ISO i found online, however it came with a product key (probably Pirated) so how to i change it to my legal one wrote on top of my machine

Tried that and it comes up with already registered

Scroll down to XPPID Windows XP Product Key Modifier. Clicking on the link there will directly download the program but installation isn't permanent when you click install button . I tried it and it seems to be ok but couldn't actually use it because I'm on W7. All you do is input the new key.

The information reads:

Then the application will run the patched activation process so that the Windows is fully activated after reboot.'

I have downloaded and run ProduKey and it shows that i have changed the product key but not the idea? any ideas how to change product id

Note i have blocked out the serials but, the Key is my key and the ID is the one which came with the disk

Hello! I have never jumped in someone's conversation to ask a slightly different question, however, please excuse me for doing so just this once. I have been looking for the answer to my question for months and maybe, just maybe OWEN123 might be able to assist.
Owen, please look for a post from me, Citsme, regarding a problem with Windows XP Media Edition SP3 2002. I appreciate any and all helpful information I can get; I've been working on this way too long (and getting nowhere!)

OK, i have fixed it, what i did,

1- Opened Regedit

2- navigated to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrent Version' then changed the Product ID one -
